Default s/c bov

can you put a BOV on a s/c and if so what kind would it have to be? i want to get a vortech with the aftercooler, could you put a BOV on that one? and what kind of s/c makes the whine sound? thanks

a twin screw/roots supercharger makes that whine sound. a centrifugal type, like a vortech, makes a whistling noise. it's basically a belt drivin turbo so it uses a bypass/blow off valve.

ive got a vortech at 10psi with an aftercooler on it... it comes with a blow off valve/bypass valve stock btw..... im wondering though, am i able to install a louder blow off valve and can i vent it to the atmosphere without problems?

sure, you can install a new BOV. i was thinking about doing that too. i like the sound our bypass valve makes when you let off. that nice little PSSHHHHT. not loud enough though.

i'm running 10psi non-after/intercooled vortech.

what kind of numbers you putting down with that with the aftercooler and the tb/plenum?

jk i was wondering the same thing cuz i love that sound especially when i go to the track and theres about 30 srt-4s there and they all have it (comes stock on there car). though i thought you lose power with one? but imagine a srt-4 or evo or sti and they rev and have their little bov and then you rev back and they hear it. i think they would shat their pants lol
