Default Best way to race an auto

I raced my buddy in a stock crappy 98" malibu and killed him but for i'd say 7 secs. my tires just spun and spun should i have started in in 2nd. by the way i'm in my auto...... he got a great lead but its a 4 cylinder so when i actually get challenged by a car with some means what should i do. P.S. i'm a dumb 18 year old so any advice would help and my town is filled with ricers.every person seems to hook up there honda, toyotas, mazda, etc. they all suck because they're are no V8 but some have, lets say potential <edited><editID>Dilostangtr01</editID><editDate>37986.6077546296</editDate></edited>

If you have stock tires, they aren't good.</P>

Get some BF Goodrich Comp T/A Drag Radials, $130 each. </P>

Leave it in drive and turn the overdrive off.

Also get used to the max throttle you can press before you break loose. i've learned to press it to the limit before breaking grip. Smashing the gas with 245's traction control off will get you into trouble. Do that an a stock 130hp4 banger will eat you.

hey man.. you just need to learn how to drive... when your tires start spinning... let off the gas until they stop spinning and when they stop spinning put it down again... get it? and an automatic transmission will NEVER be as good as a manual. you lose at least 15% power in the torque converter....
