Default rear end problem 01 mustang gt

hello i need help in tring to figure out whats wrong with my rear it started a week ago when i would turn into the drive way it felt like my rear would studder and make a loud pop sound i could live with that but the other night i launched from the light and when i hit second it went booom now i barley runs without shaking and grinding i was wondering is this only gears that went or is there more to it ty for ur time

Sounds like it could be your traction lock or your rear gears. How many miles on your 01'? If you need new gears I would suggest getting some FFRP 4.10's and have them installed with a complete bearing kit.

yea i figured it couldnt be just the gears im gonna put ffrp 410s in and what else do i need agian i plan to put like 2grand + install into it so what should i get besides 4.10s
oh yea it has 36000

2K on the rear end?? You plan on getting some new control arms, and other suspension mods for that too? You must be hammering your GT to only have 36K miles on it and have the rearend go out on you!? []

Yeah...I have read I think C&D some time ago when they beat the crap out of a 01 or 02 GT that after about 28 hard really hard launches (meaning spinning through 1st and part of 2nd) and a number of 1/4 mile runs that they broke something...so I guess you got your money's worth out of the stock rearend.

I still think 2K for a rearend (trac-loc system and new planetary gear) is a bit steep, but then again I've never priced a complete job.

If its a bad loud pop check your spider gears mine blew out and thats what it did
