Default Air intake

ok i was wondering of it would be good for me to get a larger maf housing or maybe a pro m maf. Will a larger housing bolt up to my mac cai. And what kind of gains would i see with a accufab tb. Will i gain much HP cuz this stuff is expensive.

Alright I just went through the same thing you're going through with questions on the MAF's and such in my other forum. Yes, the larger housing will bolt up to your MAC CAI, but they're almost useless. It's just a bigger housing, but the MAF is still programmed to take in 65mm so it's doing you no good. And as far as getting an aftermarket MAF you'll only see small gains and your better off with a good tune. The TB is a good move but I'd wait untill you get all of your other bolt on mods before doing the TB. So really you'll see no gains from a MAF and with the TB on your car now it'll only get you like 5-7hp. Good luck I hope this helps!

If you're dead set on a MAF, look at getting a Lightning MAF for $99 from www.buyfordracing.com which will likely outflow the pro-M. I honestly don't know that the throttle body is worth all that money. It could be so insignificant that you won't really feel a difference or see more than a .1 in a quarter mile. That being said I know a guy who put one on. Ask the people over at Mustang Tuning if they can cut you a deal or something. One of their customer service people has installed the throttle body onto his 96 cobra.

This MAF should bolt in like factory.

I'm not sure how big the MAF on the 97 cobra was, but I know that my '04 is 80mm. I might go to 85mm, but no larger. Is the 97 a 4V 4.6? The larger tb may do something for you, but my '04 will probably only get a 70mm, as the 75 does nothing for me over the 70mm.

Again, I don't know dick about the '97 Cobra. However, unless you're going FI, you don't need the 90mm lightning MAF. You will end up running too lean most likely. That could cause detonation.
