Engine swap? worth it? and whats needed?
First off would a big block be better than the 4.6? or should i just forge it?
THe reason why im asking is becuase my moms freind at work just got in a wreck with his 99 F-150 and as far as i know its a V-8. If the insurance companys totals it or what ever what would i need to take off to drop that into my car? This seems like the perfect oppurtunity to do this, if i cant use the engine i might take it from him anyways and put it on ebay, keep the money and use it to build the ol' 4.6

a f 150 would have either a 4.6 or a 5.3.
of coarse a 5.3 would have more displacement there for more potential to make hp. but it weights more.
i really don't know a lot about the 5.3l so i cant tell you if it is better to use it or build a 4.6

You're coming right up my alley. I'm in the process of doing an engine swap plus a lot more. My project kind of snowballed into a major build. I personally went with an 03/04 cobra motor (forged) with a Kenne Bell twin screw supercharger. I bought those items brand new for around 16K. We have a target 625 rwhp.

i think its 5.4l. Would it be worth gettin ahold of all of the stuff to do it thought, i could possibly have the entire truck on my hands.

Whatever you decide to do, you may also want to consider some suspension work depending on your HP gain. Your going to want to be able to keep the rear end on the ground.
