Default Twin Screw vs. Centrifugal blower

What is the difference between a twin screw and a centrifugal supercharger? Is centrifugal another name for a roots blower?

no. centrifugal is basically a belt driven turbo, as your RPMs build, your boost and power build, kind of like waiting for your turbo to spool up. the screw and roots are positive displacement. meaning it’s operation guarantees a certain amount of airflow regardless of RPM.

Thanks alot Nanaki. So how does a screw s/c supply a constant amount of boost if it is run by the driveshaft/belt, like the centrifugal. The belts run with the driveshaft and the driveshaft has a varying speed, so how could this translate to a constant boost in the s/c?

Its not driven by the driveshaft. Its driven by the driveBELT. A twinscrew's internals are made so that as soon as you hit the gas, air is immediatly forced into the engine... its commonly referred to as an air compressor because it doesnt build boost, its just there, whereas a centrifugal... the air has to travel from the blower to the TB, into the plenum, down the runners and into the engine because it sets further away from the intake. so it takes longer for the engine to get into boost.

Is there a root/twin screw that is compatable with the mach1 engine (specifically the shaker assy)

Nope. You will have to bolt the shaker scoop to the hood if thats the look you wanna keep.

go with nitrous for a mach. you'd probably only be running about 6psi on a blower.

Why only 6 psi? I've heard of mach's running as high as 15 psi. I've got forged internals (pistons/valves anyway) and a forged crank..... Just wondering... also, I'll never use N20.. not since my friends civic actually blew up after he threw a rod, snapped a fuel line nd something sparked (freak accident, I know, but still)
