Default 70mm vs. 75mm Accufab?

I am ready to order a C&L intake kit with the 85mm MAF, TrueFlow intake pipe and a matching Accufab throttle body and plenum. My question is about the throttle body size.
I had someone at Mustang Tuning tell me that for a non-turbo or supercharged engine that I should NOT go larger than 70mm. He said that there is actually a minor loss of performance by going from a 70mm to the 75mm UNLESS you are forcing air into the engine with a turbo or supercharger.
I'm looking for an experienced reply to that.

There is only about a $10 difference, so that's no big deal. I would just like to know which size will perform better and resell better.
Thanks.

I have seen the flow charts for the throttle body size and the info you got from Mustang Tuning sounds accurate. Do a search for throttle body flow and you should find it.

MM&FF did a test using both sizes and the 75mm won out by a couple of horses.I have a 75mm set-up and it makes me happy. The 70mm is probably adequate with a stock engine but if you plan on upgrading heads, cams,or exhaust later on you might want to go with a bigger set-up.Since there's no penalty to go bigger right now,why not?

That is his question. Someone informed him that there IS a penalty.

Maybe the 75mm won out by a couple of PEAK horses... but what about the rest of the rpm range ? I would suspect that it would lose out especially on the lower rpm power... peak power is read in to far too much.

mm&ff usually talk about avg. HP somewhere in almost all of their articles. you should look at those numbers.

All I have heard and read previously is if you use an Accufab plenum, you only need to use a 70mm throttle body. If you use another aftermarket plenum such as C&L and a few others out there, it is recommended to go with the 75mm. That seems to be the overall opinion in the Mustang world.

Some people have been suggesting I wait with the intake system until later. Would I get more bang from a new intake system or switching the stock H-pipe to a catted X-pipe?

i just put on a 75 bbk TB and a c&l plenum, and after a tune picked up 9rwhp and 7 rwtq. the throttle response is much better, and you can definetly feel the power at higher rpm's.

75mm setups are better for F1

70mm for N/A

I just put on a BBK 70mm TB and a C&L Plenum...I've happy with the throttle response/ power gains.
