Faulty panic?

Faulty panic?
Hey everyone, just bought my first mustang last week. It's a 98 GT vert. The first night at home no problems with the car. Next morning at work with a light rain, the alarm goes off three times in a row. I finally had to leave the car unlocked. Later that night I set the alarm and four hours goes by, no alarm. I finally go back out and shake the car real hard, no alarm. So, I'm assuming it's not the rain triggering it. Half hour later it goes off again and the rain had quit. As far as I can tell, it's just the factory anti theft system, with the panic feature. It seems like the panic feature is being activated, the lights and horn go off and on. I just ordered an owners manual from ebay so I have nothing to go by for now. Does anyone have any ideas of what I do to fix this [&:], thanks.

RE: Faulty panic?
man my alarm goes off when i use the regular key to open it. its bs, i hate it. i just replaced my remotes batteries and gotta reset everything now. the most i can reccomend, is rip that son bitch right out of your car. you dont need no stinkin alarm. mine went off yesterday cause my remote was dead and i opened my door using the key, now way to turn it off without the remote except pulling the battery terminal. so after a few minutes i popped the hood and just yanked out the positive terminal. this was late at night too, so annoying/embarrasing. good luck.

Thanks Montana, and good luck to you. It's frustrating to say the least, If I can figure out how to disable it I'm going to.
All my fuses are good, and the closest thing I even see to an alarm is this black box and toggle type dial wired into the fuse box. The wire goes up behind the dash somewhere, can't tell where exactly yet.

i have 98 gt and its got the ford aftermarket anti theft system on it from the factory, its a pain to use, it goes off every time i open the door with my key and i have to hit the unlock button to disable it, i cant find a remote that will work for it. none of the dealers here have the right remote.

RE: Faulty panic?
i looked up the programming instructions on google. you gotta haveyour key in and power on, then there is supposedly a box in your trunk behind some trim panel. you gotta short that out, then wait for your doors to unlock/lock. then you hit a button on your remote to program, then the doors should lock/unlock and your good for the programming. supposedly, this was for the v6 too but i think it applies to the gts...dont see why not.
