Default questions on a GT

My friends dad is looking at a 2001 GT the guy is asking $10,500 http://www.wheelerd.com/details.aspx?adid=6235788 the guy is claiming that it runs 13 flat in the quarter, what mods should he have done or is he BSing? its a N/A still. i can see a CAI and a SLP loudmouth exhaust, and Cobra rims. what do you think he should be paying for it, and, what about the mod situation, and were pretty sure it has been wreaked, is it all good or should i tell him pass and keep lookin?

Well, I'm not paying the $2 to see the entire ad, but I'd say it sounds a little fishy, I think there is a thing called "oasis" that will tell you, or if he is serious about the car, purchase some carfax reports, if it's wrecked, skip it :-p Honestly, I paid $11,000 for a 00 GT with 60K on it with some decent mods (bassani x-pipe, magnaflow catback, FRPP shorty headers, k&n FIPK, Steeda Tri-ax, BBK Springs) though I sold it later for my mach :-p. Again, check the carfax on it :-p

Yea good advice. Check the carfax, and make SURE you take it to a professional mechanic before you make a purchase on any used mustang. Like dlazrael said, if it was wrecked, I would definitely skip it.

Plus, theres no way that thing is running 13's. Code3GT has probably the fastest N/A 2V on these forums and hes running 12.6. Hopefully he will see this post and give you some more information. But for that car to be running 13's, you would have to check for every possible bolt-on, the car would probably have to have some slicks or DR tires, which I didnt see in the picture, and probably a decent suspension and probably some gears.

The car has decent miles on it, and its not the price thats throwing me off, but definitely seems a little fishy.

With the mods you listed:
Intake
Exhaust and
Some 4.10's

I really couldn't exactly tell you what it would run. Probably high 14's.. I mean those mods aren't really giving any HP either, minimal.
I could be off a little, but what I can tell you is with those mods you listed, its NO where near 13's.

I would say full bolt-on, gears, tires to start out. That should really get it going. And obviously a s/c would put in a tremendous boost. Suspension and weight reduction has a lot to do with it too.
But thats a lloottt of dollas..

if it's been wrecked .......even if it's the nicest car you've ever seen.......it's not worth 10k.

Are you on drugs? All you need for 13's are good tires, gears, and a descent driver. For 11's or 10's then a blower or TT's are a must.

I'd think he would be low 14's/high 13's with intake exhaust and 4.10s...
I have an automatic 99 GT with just exhaust and intake and i run high 13's/low 14's consistently
