Default 2004 Tri-ax install

Do I need to remove the whole surrounding console piece or can I just remove the ring around the shifter to install the Tri-ax shifter???
I have an '04 GT.
Thanks!!

what surround piece? you talking about the rubber piece with the extra smaller piece on top of it? if yeah, then yes, you have to remove it all. otherwise you can't get to the bolts.

The center section is held on with clips only, very fragile clips. The one in the rear will break off if you're not careful. The whole piece that the shifter boot is fastened to comes off. There should be instructions with the shifter or on Steeda's website. If not go to Pro 5.0's web page I think they have instructions posted.
