Highest mileage original car on the forums
Hi all new guy here. Been reading for a while. 1998 Gt convert 5 speed. 2nd clutch and 146,000 on original engine and untouched rear axle. Car runs very strong and smooth, uses no oil between changes (I kid you not). car has original 273 rear gears and cruises at 90 or better for hours on end with NO problems at all. Never towed and all the electronics still work fine. Original Cd casette 460 sound. My interior is like a 46,000 mile car. Conditoned leather every three months, dash is MINT, shift handle barely worn at all. Lots of 5th gear highway for sure, but alot of around town through the gears too. Anyone else up there around 150,000 miles on their original drivetrain? By the way I raced it last week and beat a stock 94 5.0 GT vert by about 1 car length.

Not a Mustang but I had an 89 Ford Ranger with 180,000 miles.
Got a new water pump, alternator & a couple oil changes and that was it. Never changed tranny fluid or rear diff fluid. It was on a hook once, because it was stolen and left in a hugeeeeeee puddle of mud.

I have a Accord with 200,000miles and still original tranny and clutch, nothing has ever broke. My Mustang has 130,000 and is fine, tranny is starting to slip tho

44K here on my 00' GT Vert. Im keeping it for a long *** time though, so it will have a crap load down the road. But that will be with a bunch of new parts and possibly a new engine in the far future.

I worked with a guy that had 197,000 on a 96 GT. Through that time he replaced the radiator, water pump, clutch, fuel pump, and alternator. Other than that, it was a great car. Front seats were a bit torn though.
