Default exhaust question

Is it possible to install the muffler tailpipe assemblys on a 00 gt in your driveway or do you need to get the car up on a hoist . That big axle bend looks like it could cause some problems manouevering it through. not a big deal just like to save a few bucks when i can .thanx

You can always use jack stands, but I used my buddy's lift. If you drop your reard end everything will slide right through. That's what we did. Jack the car's *** up high enough that when we dropped the rear end there was plenty of room.

easier said than done....especially with a hacksaw

i cut my whole stock v6 **** off with a hacksaw, it sucked hardcore....
i cut my y to make ready for true dual exhaust....it is kinda tricky getting that old muffler-to-tailpipe assembly thing off...i just cut before the assembly right after the muffler and then twisted that mfer all around and got it out....im spending a little less than 300 for some lead pipes, magnaflow mufflers, and some tail pipes installed tomorrow...so i saved a little bit, i think.....im not sure it was worth the manual labor with my dull as$ hacksaw tho...lol
good luck

sawzall!!!

yup. makes life soooo much easier. A hacksaw would take FOREVER.

It does take a bit of maneuvering to get the new pipes over and around the axle but it can be done without too much trouble.

Don't tighten everything up as you go. Wait until you are done the whole system to position everything properly, then go back and tighten it all up.

re-tighten everything after a week or so.
