i had the 4.10 gear install with the rebuild kit and had them put on my steeda under drive pullies all for $180 bucks. though i hear it can go up to $300.
I also paid 500 for gears and install.. they told me for the first 15 miles dont go over 55 and then pull over and let them cool down so the bearing seed propper and dont burn up..then for the first 200 miles take it easy ( speed limit) and after the 200 miles then you can start rippin on them.. (just to be safe) this was from a mustang performance shop so i did what they said. I dont know if you guys did the same. If my friend was installing gears and not a shop I would take this into consideration..
i herd you are supposed to replace your gear oil after soo many miles after install. is this true?
I haven't heard that, and haven't even thought about it, but that doesnt mean its not a good ideal. But honestly I don't think you need to.
Do you guys know what gear ratio my stock 98 GT 5 spd would have? Cuz people say 2:73's but a friend of mine who is a Ford Mechanic said 3:27's.
98's came with 2.73's 3.08's or 3.27 depending on transmission and options. the door tag should have a letter under where it says "axle" M=2.73, E=3.27, Z=3.08
cool thanks a lot i will check it out! But say i have 3:27's, would 4:10's make a HUGE difference cuz I know everyone on this site LOVES their 4:10's and im sure i would too, but I will be doing a ton of highway driving cuz my school is 4 hours from home so every month i will be going home and back would this be annoying or kill my gas miliage?
