Default What is the weakest link on the 99-04 GT's? (HP Question)

I know for FI you need to forge the internals, but what else needs replacement to handle hp. I saw a thread in the forums the someone said they want 500rwhp out of their GT, but is that possible with just forged internals? Would you need a new tranny (auto/manual), rear end, a stronger body, etc? I was just curious, thanks.

tranny is maxed out around 450 or 500 so if you want to be certain, get a new tranny. Clutch will definitely have to be upgraded (manual tranny) as that will only handle 350.

mm....not so sure on an auto..I want to say 400-450 consistently unless you have it rebuilt with new bands and clutch surfaces. It will handle 500HP in stock form but will slip like a ****.

Okay thanks for the info. I have heard on another forum that 500rwhp (torque I guess) causes the stock GT body to flex and have problems with the doors, have you ever heard of this?

that depends on several factors (motor mount types, suspension mods, etc) Worst case scenario you get some subframes welded in to fix that.

I thought so, 500hp dosen't sound like it would be that much stress on the cars frame. Thanks again man.

I would get some subframes, probally a new tranny. The T-56 viper spec is nice. And intake, exhaust, tires, all those goodies.
