Default cam swap

I need some information on doing a cam swap. What will the cam swap do for the HP? What should I look for in brand names and specifics so it will fit the stang and run well as a daily driver? Basically I am not familiar with cams and what will happen when you swap them. Any help would be awesome.

Default RE: cam swap

Changing a cam will alter the valve opening and closing... valve timing. If you want to just give your daily driver a bit of umpfff without sacrificing drivability look for a more mild cam (relativly lower lift/duration) If you put in a more radical cam, youll be making more power in the Upper range but youll be sacrificing it down low. The amount of HP you make depends on the cam. You may need to udgrade heads and intake to match. Ask around about what cams people are running, and do a search.

You can get them from Ford racing but some good brands (some of the 3 most popular as well) are Comp, Crane, and Lunati. Edlebrock also has a line of cams out, if they are like other edlebrock parts, they will be top notch.
