have you or someone you know ever bought a car from a car dealership (no private seller) off of ebay? were they satisfied with the overall condition of the car? did they have their car delivered to them or did they go pick it up?

i have been looking for a 2000 - 2004 gt. i went on autotrader.com and found some "OK" prices. then i went to ebay and there are some damn good deals!
Have you tried cars.com too?

I would never by a car via e-bay. A good friend of mine bought a 66 Chevy Nova II (Street Rod) off a guy from Ohio (e-bay) about one year ago. It was advertised as having a "fresh" 427 (L82) engine. About 2 months ago after only about maybe 2000 miles it blew a head gasket. Well to make a long story longer, after tearing the engine down we ran the numbers on the engine and found out it was just a 396 (L78) engine. So it wasn't a fresh engine or a 427...............

P.S. He's going to put a 540 short block in it and build the top half himself......

Ebay has rules to protect the buyer to a pretty good degree. If it was advertised a 427 and it was a 396 he has a valid case to take to ebay. They are strict about advertising. If I was your buddy Id be in Ebays face. They have a regular comittee that oversees false advertising God they are a traded company on wallstreet now no longer a little trading site. Steve

My best friend buys and sells alot of cars and cycles on Ebay. He just sold a 67 stang off frame rebuild, rebuilt 287, new interior, basically a new car from the ground up. It was on for 20 minutes and a guy who lives 10 hrs said he wanted it and would pay the buy it now price if it was nice. The guy shows up the next day at 10...SOLD! He got $8,900 for it. ( numbers didnt match ) . The next week he did the same thing and brought home a bueatiful Harley all decked out. Ebay works but you gotta be willing to travel and or have someone look at it before you make a trip to alaska. He has done it 6 or 7 times never got burnt. Even bought a 96 white convertible cobra 40k miles paid 12,900. Not a bad deal.

BUYER BEWARE!

Steve

A buddy of mine bought his 00gt convertible off ebay while we were in Iraq. Although he did have his parents go look at it first. This might just be a story but another friend said he knew a chick who bought a stupid scion off ebay then flew to colorado and drove it home. I would never buy a car without checking it out first. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a car off ebay becuase they are good at protecting the buyer.

my aunt and uncle bought a lincoln town car off of ebay and got a CRAZY deal on it. they had no problems at all. in most instances the carfax is available on the car. i agree with everyone else that test driving is important tho. if the deal is really that good on the car...maybe you could try to get together the money to travel to where the car is to test drive it? i dunno just a thought. best of luck tho.

thanks for the replies. i guess if it's at a nice car place that says they did a 101 point inspection or something and has lots of pics then it would be cool. but like your all saying, it would be better to go there in person. especially if it's from a private seller.
