Moron's at Ford
I get a check engine light so I take it in to some Ford Dealer ship that has special SVT mechanics (99cobra) the check engine light was because of a fuel leak in the neck of the take (the o-right) I guess, claims they have to drop the tank to repair it and it costs 500...then he said my "brake" light was comming on because my brake pads were low and front/rear and it costs depends on what kind i want 700-1,000 for new brake pads...I couldent belive it...****in morons, are they KIDDING ME...I can do that **** myself for a fraction of the cost...for them to tell me that **** it costed $250...and on top of that I got 60,000 on my car and he said they should do a transmission fluid flush ($175'ish) and a coolent flush (120$'ish) I declined on both...
what are you guys thoughts?

Taking you car to the dealership is the first way to hear wonderful stories. When I was shopping for my GT I drove past a lot that had a nice Sonic blue GT, I pull in and ask if it is a manual, they said and I quote "You can't buy a manual Mustang GT because no one will trade them in, if you want one you have to buy a new 2005 Mustang." I almost fell on the floor, I just started laughing, turned around said you have got to be kidding me and drove away. Still the best line any car salesman has ever given me. Best part is there was two salesman and the second one just shook his head and agreed.

Actually it's not the labor that rapes you, it's the cost of OEM parts at the dealership.
Case in point...they wanted $400 to replace my water pump at the dealership. New Ford Pump was $215!?!?! I can buy one off of Rockauto.com (Identical Motorcraft wp) at half the cost. I went to autozone and bought a Brand new one for $60. After doing the work myself, I would've paid the $185 for labor though (V6 WP is a pain!)
I would've declined everything you mentioned too. Get the parts at rockauto.com for OEM replacements or upgrade your brakes to some new ceramics!! Tranny flush is messy though [:'(]

hey dude check your brake fluid level! on my ford explorer I used to have that would happen, and I topped off the fluid and all was well.
As you probably know, the fluid in the master goes down as your pads wear thinner. Well when the fluid is down to say 60% of normal level, and you hit the brakes, most of the fluid sloshes to the front of the master and lets that little sensor inside it fall down to light the brake light....
Just an idea, let me know. It may cost you 20 cents

oh yeah the only time I'd go to a dealer is when I have something wrong that I know only they can fix. They are a joke, they just talk in $300 incriments. And everything has to be done too, even if you just want an oil change. They'll fine $2k worth of repairs that your car "needs"

RE: Moron's at Ford
my car is still under warranty so i take it in and they fix it for free.... ive got 3 new power window motors, ive had 2 new radios, 2 syncro kits in the tranny. thats about it i think... that would have been real expensive if it wasnt under warranty too.
