it turns your check engine light off. if you are buying catted xpipe and there are spots to hook up your exhaust sensors you may not need a mil.

so then let me ask what would be the since of getting a catted xpipe if its gonna set the check engine light off anyway? i mean thats what they use for 97 and up cars in ny when doing the smog test, they dont actually test the emissions anymore they just look for check engine codes.

I don' know for sure if a catted xpipe will set off your check engine light. I have not got an x pipe yet but i am getting an off road xpipe because my mustang is no longer a daily driver. If i were going to have it as a daily driver, I would get the cats. Some brands of xpipes have spots to hook up your sensors and some don't. If they don't you need the mil's if they do have them i would assume that they are catted and they won't set off the check engine light. But maybe someone else here knows for sure?

Ok a catted x-pipe has converters on them like the stock ones if you buy a catted one the only thing you need to do is bolt your 02 sensors back on the new pipe. The 02 sensors are already in place on your car. The only reason for mil's are to trick the computer to not throw a code and set the check engine light on!The reason for check engine light coming on is because with a off-road h or x pipe there's no converters which is illegal in most states to have! Hope i have helped
