Lincoln Mk 8 32v 4.6 engine into '96 Mustang GT ?
I hate to ask a question thats probably been discussed countless times, but I could not easily find this in searching. Someone please point me to the post that probably explains this??
I just bought a wrecked '95 Lincoln Mk 8 and sure do like that 32v 4.6. I see a '96 Mustang GT near me for sale with a bad 4.6. What is involved in swapping the Mk 8 engine into the stang, if at all possible?

The early DOHC 4.6 in the Lincolns only made 260hp. You wouldn't be getting any breath-taking performance, but a swap would be possible. Of course...PCM, intake, exhaust, etc. would have to be changed.

you will need a mustang wireing harness to make the install easier. if thats what you are planing i would buy a 6cyl car to do the swap in it will a few more things to swap but if you have a donner car you will have the big stuff motor and tranny. the fuel system is basicaly the same.
there are those things like the intake and motor mounts that of coarse your gonna have to buy either way. but i still think the 6 cyl car would be a lot cheaper.

The 32V DOHC 4.6 in the 95 Mark is rated at 290HP at the flywheel. If you want to put this into the GT you will be looking at at a gain of about 85HP! Hmn that seems like a significant gain to me, since the 96 GT was only rated at 215HP. Hell I'd go for it if the Mark engine is in good shape. The Motor in the Mark is a Cobra Engine with the exception of forged internals, Intake and a few other suttleties. Use headers instead of the stock manifolds and you could be talking 300HP at the flywheel easy. Tune it properly, you'll basically have a baby Cobra. With a few extra bolt ons you may even get to Cobra territory.
Personally I'd keep the Mark, but I guess thats because I already have one. It's a nce sleeper. I've whipped up a GT or two in
my day in that very car. I had my you know what handed to me by one or two as well. There is a guy in Houston who has over 300k on his Mark and he dogs the hell out of it almost eveery weekend at the track. You've got a great engine with respectable power and very few problems. Keep the oil changed and don't let it get hot and it will run forever. Good Luck with whatever you decide.

think about what you just said. now he would have to get a K member out of a v8 and the 8.8 rear end out of a v8 and the gauge cluster out of a v8, and basically everyhting that comes in the gt
