You should always disconnect the battery from the negative first. I am not sure why, but everytime I read how to preform steps on my car the manual always says disconnect negative battery cable first before you do anything with the motor. Mabye pulling the positive cable of some how creates a voltage spike and messed with your throttle position sensor. I am not sure to much about automotive electrical I took a month of classes in college, then I dropped out because I wasnt making enough money..

You can try loosening the top screw on the throttle position sensor and twisting it clockwise. This will raise the idle rpms. Do this while the motor is running. Until you find the sweet spot and tighten it down.

Well I don't want to touch the IAC as its new and was working just fine hours ago. Also, I didn't pull any codes and any bad sensor would show.

I got everything settled down except the idle now... It sticks at ~1250 rpms when I pull to a stop and then after a good 4-5 seconds the idle drops to the usual 750rpms. What does that point to?

ORIGINAL: Milky

I reset my computer yesterday afternoon by disconnecting the battery for about 5 minutes and now my idle hangs pretty badly. When I drive the idle will hang right where I go to shift as well. I have a diablo sport chip burned and I'm wondering if that could have gotten zapped or erased somehow. Anybody have an idea where I could start? Thanks!
Essentially the same thing happened to me. One time my battery died and after a recharge it would idle randomly between 2-3k rpm. To fix it, I replaced several parts in the engine - the IAC, and two other things that I can't even remember - but they didn't fix the problem. What ultimately fixed it was resetting the battery again. I really don't know why this fixed the problem, but it did, so give it a shot.

Ya I don't know what the deal is, I'm sure its not something physical, its either the computer itself or the computer isn't set right. I'm gonna give resetting it a shot again, does anyone have a "how to" on properly setting the computer after disconnecting the battery?
