Default HorsePower Gains

I talked to a guy at steeda today about what I am having installed and I told him I have:

BBK Longtube Headers
H Pipe Without Cats
MagnaPack Exhaust

This is what he said:
You will loose a few low end horsepower and torque especially without the cats, and will only gain 1-3 HP at 6000-6500 rpm's which you dont even really rev to.

I couldnt believe this. He said I should have spent the 2 grand with installation and used it somewhere else.

I have Steeda CAI and a sct chip. Is that HP gain/loss true? Anybody have the same setup with prooven gains? Im kinda upset...

Thanks,
Chris

You just need to start putting some more air through the engine to take advantage of that open end back end, that's probably what he's trying to say.

!!!!! who said that?????

so what hes telling you is that GREATLY improving the flow of air from your engine will HURT hp?????

lets think about this for a second.....

im calling him a flat our lier and a moron

BUT if i were you, i would invest in a TB/P combo to take full advantage of your excellent air flow

your full exhaust probably would net you (provided you did before and aftre dyno runs) a solid 20rwhp. But yes, a TB/Plenum combo along with your CAI will only help.

did you happen to see some white powder residue around his nose? that's rediculous 1-3 hp at 6500?! HAHAHAH thats hilarious..you are looking at a SOLID 20 RWHP..but yes, work up your intake now and really get ur engine goin..

I couldnt believe what he said. I told him my father gained over 25 rwhp on his C6 with headers x pipe and exhaust. He said thats becase the cats are still on and he has much more displacement to take advanage of the flow.

Im getting a tb/p combo soon, probably a 75mm. And then pulleys. As far as the basic bolt-ons, what should be next?

He just wants you to buy more stuff it seems. When I got my headers, catted X-pipe and Superchip/tune I dropped 6/10's in the QTR. Nuff Said.

Thats a fallacy, alot of ricers have the problem of going with extremely large exhaust pipes without cats and then there is not enough back pressure so it does cause them to lose HP. But this is not the case for your setup. If you get it dynoed I would bet my title you will see a gain of more then 3 HP, especially when you start to improve the intake.
