I recently switched to Amsoil 5w-30. I have heard nothing but good things about their products. I just wanted a little extra protection with the KB on the car.

From what I have been told, the best way to run synthetic is from the day you buy the car NEW. I also know that if your car burns any oil, even a little bit between changes on normal oil (which at a certain point is normal) and you drop in synthetic, it is much slippery-er and burns even more between changes.


I work at a shop that puts in mobil oil (non synthetic) and I get it free. I just bring my own filter. I run mobil 5W30 and run a WIX oil filter. No problems.

My theory is I'm gonna run synthetic on my next engine which will be highly modified. No sense in running extreme performance oil on a stock engine (my engine is 100% stock)

I have used Mobil 1 in all of my race cars over the years and have never had a problem. It is a very good oil.
