Oil Cooler with Vortech

Oil Cooler with Vortech
I was talking with a buddy of mine who built a 6 1/2 second Vett. They had a huge blower on the car that ran the oil from the engine through the blower just like the centrifugal blowers alot of us use. The blower gets hot enough by itself and then on top of that the hot engine oil runs through it. He said they put an oil cooler between the blower and the engine. I was thinking about doing this but it seems like most of the oil coolers don't want to cool the oil unless it's above 160 degrees. Anybody have any input on this? Ford racing has a couple coolers the sell that actually don't allow the fluid to run through the cooler until it gets to a certain viscosity. I'm thinking of adding a trans cooler also.
Here are some links to some of the coolers.

RE: Oil Cooler with Vortech
here's what you can do.
i purchaseda fordracing oil cooler kit for the 5.0 cars, though its not really advertised for them, its the kit with the black coated radiator from ford racing. itcame with a decent radator. you can't use the sandwich adapter that comes with it (doesn't fit) and you wouldn't want to for what you want to do. they have a little spring loaded ball valve that, much like a thermostat, won't open until the oil gets to a certain temp, probably what you want if your purposewere cooling the engine oil rather than the compressor oil.
i found a 4.6 sandwich adapter from sean hyland motorsports that does not have the valve, and the inlet and outlet holes are quite a bit bigger than what came with the kit i purchased. its clearly a part made forracing and i'd guess for people installing stronger than stock oil pumps.it did what i wanted, which was something that worked since it sucked bad when ifound out the kit's adapter wouldn'twork until after i started. its a little pricy for what it is, $65 when i bought it 3 years ago.
i did find out that there are a decent number of oil coolers out there than can be made to work, i don't remember any links but searching for"engine oil cooler" and other similar phrases got me some good results on google if you search the first 2 - 3 pages of results.
i paid about $225 all together about 3 years ago, $120 for the kit, $65 for the adapter and another $40 or so on some good high pressure / temp oil tubing from napa. the kit doesn't come with enough for a 4.6, you'll need to purchase about 5 feet, maybe less if you're good.
