roll bars?
Im going to be getting nitrous soon and my dad would like me to get roll bars in the car...is it worth the trouble or should i just convince him otherwise? I will admit, my friend has them in his mustang and i think they look pretty cool...how much would it run for installation on an 8 point kit? thanks

RE: roll bars?
You dont need a roll cage, just get a 4 point roll bar. I want to get an autopower roll bar. They are nice. I dont know how much they are to install. But you can get a bolt in one and install it yourself. Here are you choices.

Okay, having nitrous has nothing to do with a roll cage, unless daddy thinks your driving skills are sub-par. So, unless you frequently drive inverted, the cage seems a bit much.
A word of caution - if you go with a dry kit, I'd keep it at a 75 shot, but that may be too much on 87 octane to avoid detonation. Not sure.
If you're going wet, then some say 125-150 is possible, but I can't recommend it. 100 is a good balance that shouldn't decrease the longevity of your motor too badly.
Also, you have to keep that power to the pavement, so look at subframe connectors and some U/L control arms.
Good luck

RE: roll bars?
ill probably either go with one of those 4 pt roll bars or save for some gears and a tuner...still undecided
as for the nitrous, im going with a 100 wet shot and getting a set of slicks off my friend for down the track

RE: roll bars?
Somthing to think about when you put a roll bar in a street car. A roll bar is made to be part of a safety system, they are designed to work with a 5 point harness and helmet. The reason I say this is because, unless you plan on installing a harness and wearing properly all the time, having a roll bar in a street car is actually more dangerous than not. If you get in a wreck and your head (or any other body part) hits that bar, it will cause some serious damage. Skip the bar untill your car is fast enough to actually need it.

RE: roll bars?
jd1969 makes a good point. my car is not fast at all but I got my rb primarly for two reasons I liked the look of it and I liked how it stiffens the chassis being installed in a convertible.
and the 3rd reason is that I got it used for just 100 bucks
