Default Start Offs / Launching

i was wondering if anyone has any good tips on how to start off from a stop. some people like to call it launching... whatever you want to call it, be my guest, but if you have any tips that would be great. i just started driving this 99 GT 5spd like 3months ago and its my first 5spd car so my starts are really bad. i want to learn how to start off because at the rate im going, my starts are so bad that i think any car could beat me in a race... thanks

bring your rpm's up to about 1500, feather the clutch(let it out fairly slow, keeping the tires from spinning real bad) while giving it plenty of gas, the rest is up to you. Oh, and turn your traction control off!!

the best launches I have got have been around 4000 rpms. There you dont have to worry about bogging the motor at all off the line, and if you feather the clutch correctly you wont spin much! PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE

who cares about traction control, it is 100% useless in ALL conditions. I tried using it in the snow (yes I have to drive my car in snow on the occasion) and I only found it to be more dangerous. I never ever use it!

ok, here is how you launch:

#1. Put the Gear on First

#2. Let the clutch go, at the same time apply gas

#3..you are rolling................

Dont tell me that you have been practicing Race Launching on the streets, I think thats ridiculous.......

everything on the snow is useless, even sometimes 4 x 4....Tcontrol works well when is raining (it works!)..and yes, it was optional up to the 2000 GT..TC had save my car from spinning sideways a couple of times.....dont say is useless, if you dont have it or havent ever try it, just say it......

I have a 2004 GT and it didn't come with traction control, or antilock brakes.
