uhhh bad idea

Take it easy on them for about 100 miles (a week or so)....don't slam it through the gears.

After that, let loose

Typically they need 3 heat cycles to safely break in. There is no mileage break in.

Drive normal for 10-15 minutes. Stop somewhere, give it 30 mins to cool down, do it again, give it 30 mins to cool down and the last time, give her a little bit of a run, let it cool and then have fun frying your tires off until you learn how to drive with 4.10's

I just like to be safe.....I took it easy for a week or so.

I never fully understood what heat cycles meant....but now I do [8D]

I remember watching a show when they installed gears and talked about break in procedure, like driving it and cooling it down. But I wasnt sure. Because the guy installing my gears also owns a dyno and I said I want to dyno my car sometime this week. He said after the gears we can. I think thats way to early to do, I needed to break in the gears before I do a dyno pull. I will schedule it for another day.

I had my motive 4.10 gears installed by a former ford mechanic and he told me the same 100 mile breakin rule. I decided that I couldnt wait and I whomped on them since I pulled out of his driveway. My motives have been on the car for a year, and I have had no issues and no noise whatsoever.

I'm 100% correct, don't worry about the mileage period. Just perform a couple heat cycles and she's ready for a beating.
