Default NEED MORE POWER

I have a completely stock 96 GT. What can I do to add some serious horsepower? I'd like to get it up around 350 hp or so. Any suggestions?</P>

350 HP at the wheels? If that's your goal, you'll need a lot. If you want that much power, your first mod should be a PI head and intake swap. That will put you at about 265 HP at the crank. Get some ported heads and port-matched intake and you'll end up with upwards of 280 HP at the crank. Definitely get some 4.10 gears to drastically improve your acceleration. A complete exhaust with long tube headers and off-road mid-pipe should get you to about 305-310 HP. Cold-air intake, K&amp;N filter, upgrade your throttlebody and MAF, and you'll probably be in the neighborhood of 325 HP. You can buy one of those Hypertech programmers and get another 10 HP, and also replace your drivetrain fluids with synthetics to free up another 10 HP or so, and with all that you'll be pretty close to 350 HP. There's also a bunch of other stuff you can add, like a Steeda timing adjuster, underdrive pullies, hotter ignition and so forth. Or you could just cut some of that out and add a 75 shot of nitrous for about $500. Just keep in mind that with the stock block, you want to keep the power to about 400 HP or less to avoid a blown engine. Other than that it's all good.

Well for starters. You HAVE to do a PI head swap. ANd have the heads ported and polished, with a set of cams. Thats a really big step to getting 350.
