Default auto shifting

if anyone a auto 99-04 mustang gt , can you tell me how yo race at the tracks
when i race i leave it in D (drive) with the overdrive turned off
this guy at the tracks said to start in 1 then reach about 5800 rpm than shift to second, once you reach 5800 then shift down to first and back to second real quick(he said that would put you in third)
he said i could run faster then what i am running now which is 14.2
is this true

without a shift kit that will hurt the tranny VERY fast, i wouldnt recomend it

if you want a faster time, get sum sticky tires and launch from a higher rpm, dont

do anythign that u will regret

I def would not listen to that guy at the track anymore. If you wait until 5800 to shift out of first at wot I gaurantee you will hit the rev limiter a few times before it shifts. The tranny needs time to shift so if you feel the need to shift it yourself then do it around 5k, although from personal experience it won't help your times on the track.

5800 is to high to shift . he is lying to you. in 2nd gear at 5800RMPs you are probably at about 60ish mph, do you really want to put it in first at 60MPH? that is like 17K PRMs(not really, but really high) then shift up to third? dont listen to him just buy a shift kit that will help alot with a stall converter

This guy is not your friend. In fact, he hates you and wants to see your car break. Do not listen to him. Put your car in drive, turn off the overdrive and go with that. DR's, a shift kit, and a stall is what you want. Don't forget a tranny cooler.

The whole back in first and then up into second only works on an AOD I think? Not sure though
