I haven't heard too many good things about the 05/06 engine. At 400 HP the engines are not holding up and breaking. If you're able to pick up an 03/04 cobra or a Mach 1- In the long run you would probably be much happier.
there's quite a number of 05+ GTs with vortechs making 450+RWHP and they're holding out just fine.

like i said before though, nobody really knows how well those engines perform when they get lots of mileage on them. we've all seen high mileage 4.6 2v motors with supers and nitrous that run great. lets not get into the 5.0s either.

the 04 has a much better styling than the 05+......but like the general concensus is on here the cobra is the way to go......and it's not going to get any worse gas mileage......at least not so as you'd notice.

insurance maybe a different story.

03-04 cobra
mach
99-04 GT
05+ GT

^^^that's the order i'd be considering them.

Well, I have an 04 GT Convert with all of the 40th anniversary goodies. I would swap it for a 03-04 hardtop Cobra in a heartbeat, but none of the 05 - 06s. Just cant get into that body style myself.
