if you have a handheld tuner, most are able to read codes, if not autozone will read out the code for free, then you can look up what it means on the net. i think there's a thread on here somewhere

usualy autozone will be able to tell you pretty quickly what the code is and what it means.... not always, but the one around here knew the code my wife's old cav was throwing right away.. easy fix.
