TPS check engine light

Default TPS check engine light

About 2 weeks ago, check engine light came on and the scanner said it was the TPS, anyways i noticed that my cruse control doesnt work anymore, it had worked about 3 weeks ago...would this cause the tps light to come on? (throttle position sensor)

The two are definitely related, not a common problem though.

Have you looked and checked the linkage/sensor operation?

TPSs are tricky little bastard, but I don't see how one would just stop working. have you been in a collision? Experienced any heavy vibration?

You can check and see if the TPS is loose, but don't tighten it if it is. you have to calibrate it first, get the voltage right. Tightening it/loosening it changes it. The cruise control/throttle is all part of it. Seriously, I HATE jacking with it. I finally went to Ford and let them take care of it, lol. Too easy to break it, and it's a $40 part.
