Default Tuner Questions??

Alright guys, there is one thing that I am absolutely clueless on, tuners. Is the diablosport tuner any good?? How exactly do these things work?? Do these things plug into your ecu, and simply tune it by itself?? I am honestly clueless about these darn things? Are they worth the money? Also, when I buy 4:10 gears, will they correct the speedo? What kind of gains would I see with a diablo predator tuner?? Thanks, Kyle

It does correct the speedo when you regear it, but I dont know what your HP gains will be at, prob. matters how much mods you have.

Read this page I hijacked. Go back to the first page if you want to read from the beginning but you can only read the second page through this link. Otherwise you need a subscription. I have both the new SCT X-Cal2 and the Preditor and they are about the same. I like the older SCT extreme software for my auto trans though. If you are going to get your car dynotuned you should find a tuner in your area and see what software they use - SCT or Diablo sport. I would lean toward the X-Cal2 now that they seem to have all the bugs worked out.

Are these tuners difficult to work with?? And where does the 10-15rwhp come from? Advancing timing..? Really clueless on these darn things.

They are very easy to use. I use the SCT X-cal as well and I am pleased with it.

Handheld Tuners are easiest mod to do. Plug in and press yes for what options you want. estimated 10rwhp from pressing Yes. cant get any better than that. Diablosport is really good tuner, lots of options. If you really want to like tune your car then i suggest the sct-xcal because i believe it comes with software to allow you to tune it where as diablosport comes with datalogging software. Both of the tuners do a lot A/F Ratio, Timing, Spark Gap, Wheel Size, Gears, O2 Sensors, Much more.
