Default "Painful Cuts" at Ford

Let's all remember the thousands of men and women who will soon be w/o a job because of corporate restructering. Ford will announce the details today. Hopefully, they all will find a smooth transition into another equally rewarding career. Long Live Ford, God Bless America.

I heard a real interesting piece about this... the Auto Workers union is FIERCE. The employees get paid until the contract runs out (I think its another year and a half,) so they get a year and a half off with pay... and even when they are done, apparently they still get benefits?! Sounds crazy, but the reporter was saying that most of the "laid off" are now at vacation homes, getting something like 27 bucks an hour.

Wish my job paid that well

lucky them - after that year of pay runs out they can thank the union for having no job because the unions refused to take on any cuts at all.

I'm not saying it doesnt suck to lose a job; but most people get 2 weeks, or at MOST 60 days notice... I am sure most people who lose their job would like a year and a half of pay, no? I mean, its better than getting 2 weeks and then being on the street.

IMO they earned it for making great vehicles! You know that even the guys that hand built the svt cobra engines and signed their name to the weld plate right down to the guy putting in seat belts loved their jobs. I wish them all the best of luck.
