Because the 3650 'built in stops' are junk.

Ask me what my old GT used to sound like when she got overshifted hard into 2nd or 3rd..
Agreed. I've never "felt" any stops. It goes into gear, and i can continue to push it forward, at which point it sounds/feels painful on the trans.

Turns out the shop ordered me a new trans rather tahn replacing the syncros...who knows why. I guses I'll wait a little while in the event that the car needs to go back to the shop.

I wouldn't trust the factory stops in the 3650. they are there but they will not stand up to the abuse of powershifting or even simple hard shifting with an aftermarket shifter.

The stock shifter has alot of "give" because of all the bushings they put in there. The aftermarket shifters are solid billet aluminum and have no "give" whatsoever.

I would set the stops on the MGW so that you have a little extra room to move but I would want them there.

On my '03 GT, I had the steeda Tri-ax and they said not to use the stops either.....well after a few passes at the track, slamming it into second and third, I decided real quick that the stops definitely needed to be there.

A bit off-topic but is this an issue if you have a T-45 tranny? I am planning on ordering the MGW shifter probably later this week. Thanks

I believe only the 3650 has the stops. It's not even an issue., really. Just personal preference.

What u do, is after u install it all the way, but with out the boot on. U backs the stoppers all the way out flush with the inside hole. Then but it in 3rd and tighten them back down tell it hits the shifter then back it out about a half a turn or so. Then do it on the other side.
