Default Convertable top lloose

The top on the driver side of the car keeps working itself loose. When i bought the car about a year ago i tightened the hook up. Now it is 1/2-5/8's from touching the rubber seal. I think it could have to do with the hook because when i push the handle back in to lock the top down and in place if i leave it about an inch or so stucking out (not fluch with the trim) it seals. Has anyone had this problem or know anything about the latch mechonism?

Haven't had any problems with mine, yet. Knock on wood.

I had just the opposite problem when I replaced my top. It was so damned tight I literally had to hold onto each clasp one at a time and use all of my 170lbs to pull it down to close it. Eventually it loosened up... Now it's nice and tight but still easy to open/close. Sounds like maybe the threads on your clip have stripped out....

not sure i understand your complaint, but the driver side hook for my top was loose. i noticed that it was adjustable. i removed the little lock screw for the hook and turned the hook clockwise to the correct length and now it's cool.

maybe you can take a pic of your problem and post it.

I already loosened the hex head screw that holds the hook in place and tightened the hook. Now the top is loose again. When i push the handle in to where it should be there is a half inch gap that you can feel the air rushing through. With the handle pulled out 3/4-1" it stays shut and air does not leak. Its more of a cosmetic thing than anything else but i like to have the car as close to mint as possible.
