Thinking of Buying My new 2003 Black Loaded GT w/10k miles... but...
So I'm probably going to purchase this 2003 Mustang GT with only 10k miles on it tomorrow, everything is right on the car, its like brand new, good carfax, execpt i feel that the 5-speed manual trans is like "loose?", or has more play in the gears than other mustangs i've driven... for instance when you are in 2nd or 3rd gear, give it some gas and let quickly off, you can feel the trans ( and car itself ) kinda like going back and forth as the rpm's go back down, is this normal for 10k miles owned by an older man? or did the guy beat on it?... ive had some other mustangs, i know they all do this to an extent but it just seemed like alot for such a new car with low low miles... whatdya guys think? and what causes this?
Thanks a ton,

Ford's do have a loose feeling drivetrain and what you are experiencing is typical unless it's EXCESSIVE and the tranny mount is broken.
Some 4.10 gears will really cut down on the nasty bucking and thumping. Have the tranny mount looked at.

quick question, and sorry to hijack this thread...
with 4.10 gears, does that make 5th gear 'shorter'
the reason i am asking is b/c i want to find a way so when i am on the highway and doing 80-85 my rpm's are below 2K like 1500... will 4.10's do this?
Thanks!

4.10's will increase your rpm on the highway, pornstar.
wick001 - if it makes you feel any better, at least your car will still have factory warranty on it if somethign is wrong.

stock is 3.27. you do not want gears below it, because it would make your stang insanely slow. I think they make 2.73's for ford 8.8" rear ends.

Yeah, it has factory warranty until march so... your right, but i was just wondering if its normal, i mean its not like Holy **** dude, whats wrong with your car... ive had 4 mustang GT's before and they all do it, i just thought that with the car being so new, and such low miles, it should feel tight like a virgins honey pie... ya know?
