300whp is capable.. but it'll take some work. P.I. heads, cam', and head work would be a good jump in power. L.T.'s and a full exhuast, udp', t/b intake, plenum and a really good tune. To hit 300whp on the npi heads(96-98) would take alot more work. Thats why i'm just hooking up the a 100 shot with full bolt on's. Way cheaper..

It's safe as long as you do not try too much of a shot and install it properly.

But back to the question at hand, why not go for some sort of power adder. It will be very difficult to get 300 rwhp, pm Code3gt, he'll explain how expensive it can get.

Just pick up a "Muscle Mustang and Fast Fords" magizine. They have a non pi car in there called "red headed step child" They are doing excactly what you are looking at. I am in the same boat you are in. I want the 300hp as well out of my non pi motor. So far from the article the biggest gains came from an intake cams and Port and Polished non pi heads. I am a firm believer that a non pi car can hit 12's with non pi heads. That is my goal. LOL realy its not that big of a deal........if you got $! anyway good luck.

You could, but it's nuts $$$ wise.

It would be cheaper to slap a Zex kit on your stock motor and then replace it with a PI motor if/when it blows. Figure what, $2-3k for a new motor? $500-$750 for the kit? It'd run you that much to reach 300rwhp N/A.

Heads
Cams
Intake
Exhaust
Bolt-ons

Its not that its hard to do, its just pricey. You've gotta have all bolt on's, plus p&p heads and cams, and probably about a 50 shot of NOS. Good luck.
