Prob no more than 450. I just want to have a large amount of room for error, as in if the stock block can take 450 I don't want to be at that. What else do you think I'll need? I'm not talking about mods to get me there, I'm talking about engine, axle, etc. Parts that may snap or crack under the power. Thanks.

If you just stayed around 420 you realy wouldnt need forged internals, alot of people run that much hp on a stock blcok just fine. It always nice to be extra safe tho. But you will need a nice clutch and some suspension work and good tires to hook up well.

So any rough price quotes for suspension, tires im no worried about, and forged internals. Together or seperate, it doesn't matter. Just wanna reiteratae, I can't thank you guys enough! I belong to a Grand Prix Forum (My current car [supercharger woopwoop]) and I would never have gotten a response this fast.

I get all my work done here, they are a VERY good mustang shop. http://www.houstonperformance.com/ The prices for everything you need are there, call them up and tell them what your looking for and they tell you exactly what you need, and how much installation should be.

Default RE: Internals

well this is a thread I could get some info off of. I have a 97 GT with a 5 speed. I want to buy another identical engine, build that one, then swap (so I can keep driving my car most of the time). I've rebuilt my share of engines at school, and this will be self done to save money and gain experience.

I want to supercharge my engine ultimately when I'm done, so I want to know what internals would be good. I would like to get forged pistons( dished? ), rods, and a forged crank. What kind of top end work will be needed? Would upgrading the cam compliment the supercharger? Could the stock heads handle this setup? I figure with a superchager and some nice exhaust work I could keep it plenty more HP than stock but not too close to 450...

thanks all

George

ORIGINAL: Kadence

Rods, Pistons, Beams, Crank, the stock 2v 4.6 can safley take up to 450hp i beleive. You can either do the parts sepratley and get your motor rebuilt or buy a engine with forged internals already in it.
yeah, he meant i beams, a type of rod, like an h beam style.
