Before I bolt on the Supe
Hey all,
I am planning on putting a 8-10psi supercharger on my '02 mustang (10,000miles on it). What are some good things i could mod or change before i do this. I am lookin to add horsepower, but what can i do to make my engine handle the punishment of a supercharger better? Any posts would be helpful.
Thanks guys,
Grandy

well bolting on a supercharger is punishment enough, but with a good tune you should be fine. ATI procharger and the kenne bell blowzilla are my favorite applications. some good mods to accomodate your s/c would be, headers, h pipe cat back exhaust, and a good TB and upper intake plenum combo would fee up a good 20 hp. i'd also throw in a good clutch.

with a good tune and a few bolt ons, 400 easily!! but like dan said, you need a really really good tune. there's a place in VA Beach VA that does AWESOME tuning!!

Well, most of the things which would really help minimize the impact of a supercharger are very very expensive modifications (ie forged pistons, rods, etc. and intercooler). Since you are staying on the factory motor though, don't get caught out there trying to up the pulley all the time b/c you will be sitting on a grenade. But one of the best things you can do is to get an intercooler of some kind if you haven't done so b/c it actually removes the excess heat from the intake charge which is usually the cuprit for detonation. And with hypereutectic pistons, you do not want that!
