Default I've decided on a combo

After doing research and talking to many people about which heads/intake/cam setup i should go with this is what i have decided to go with:

MPH stage 2.5 heads
Typhoon Intake (coming soon) (ported and polished)
VT stage 1 cams

I think this setup should really give my current non-PI 97 gt a good jump...any feedback or opinions??

Those are clearly PI heads based on the rectangulr intake ports so you'll NEED to get a new intake manifold if you go with those heads.

Good luck with the setup. Be sure to post some before/after numbers.

Have any thoughts to rebuilding the bottom end with a forged unit? You would make heaps more power with that and a stage 2 cam. Its alot of cash, but just think how much nitrous you could safely run (on top of the extra power)....

Do you guys think that i could go with stage 2 cams with the setup i listed...or do you absolutely need a stall to run these cams with an auto??

Would I be fine doing MPH stage 2.5 heads and custom grind cams from MPH without changing my intake at all?? It is a stock non-PI, but i can't see spending close to $1000 for an intake to barely gain anything. Would I be okay doing this setup and saving myself some money??

the mph heads are pi ones so you are pretty much doing a pi swap therefore you'd need all the gaskets and brackets that go along with a pi swap plus a pi intake manifold. go ahead and get the stage 2 cams cause you'll be making more power and usually dont cost more than stage 1s

From what i've heard I dont need a new intake, i can keep my stock one and still see some pretty awsome gains

Wrong. If you don't have a forged bottom end DON'T get the stage 2s. They will be making power in a RPM your stock shortblock cannot support. What I wouldn't give to have installed stage 1s instead of 2s. I lost out on a ton of bottom end power, and gained horsepower for only a small portion of the curve.

I think your best bet would be to either get the heads/cams installed with a PI (stock) intake, or go whole hog with a forged bottom end, the above, and a aftermarket intake.

I could be wrong, so check with code for sure, but I don't think a aftermarket intake is gonna do much good for you unless you do the shortblock, because once again you will not be able to rev high enough to take advantage of the gains of the intake.

Whatever you do, get rid of the stock nonpi intake. It sucks, and you have to have adapters to match it to the PI heads.
