you are also going to need the install kit which includes the bearings and gaskets. For the changing of the axle you are going to need new studs, and while you are getting stuff get a new diff cover. You don't need a new differential cover but it will look nice with a nice cover on there. Good luck on the install and remember to break in those gears before jumping on them. What kind of gears are you getting? 4.10's, 3.73's,3.55's, or stock?

I am thinking of going with the 3.73's...Also I noticed alot of axles are offered with longer studs....Why is this?

how the hell did they forget to put the plug back in
A guy I know at work used to be a supervisor at a quick change place.

He said he had a guy forget to put a plug back in a transmission. When the whole thing went down and they had to pay for it, he asked the guy why. His answer?

"It was really ****ing hot, and I burned my hand twice, and then just said screw it".

Eaton posi, no question.
Eaton posi is nice because it's rebuildable(although the kits aren't cheap) and it uses carbon fiber clutch packs.
I've heard that the torque bias is a bit high and some folks end up spinning the inside wheel on occassion. In anycase, the vast majority of people who go with the Eaton are happy and almost everyone will recommend it over an Auburn (that has tried both). A T-lok is an economical choice but they granade at the drag strip more often than the Eaton, even if you get a T-lok with carbon-fiber clutch packs. They may also need to get rebuilt more often than the Eaton.

At the same time, people have had their share of issues with the Eaton just like any other diff:

Update as of 2/9/06

I was not able to upgrade the rear end as much as I would have liked, but I did get some new 3.73's out of this...Also had the new bearings, shims, etc installed while it was open....My concern now is that I still have a whine somewhat....Anyone know what other components might have been damaged...I had everything checked out and was told the only damage was done to the rng and pinion...
