Default Fuel Pressure Problem

I am in the process of installing an ATI Procharger P-1SC 3-core air to air intercooled supercharger on my 2002 GT. I am doing the work myself (except for the gauges) and am installing in stages. I currently have installed the plumbing, blower, intercooler, fuel pump and gauges. I will be installing the injectors, and replacing spark plugs if they arrive as promised Saturday. My problem is the electric fuel pressure gauge (Auto-Meter Phantom series) which was installedby a performance shop only registers 24-28# of pressure. This pony should be registering 38-40# factory stock. When installing the fuel pump I mistakenly made the opening in the fuel pump canister slightly larger than specs. ATI called for. I have bought a new canister and am awaiting its arrival. ATI states that oversizing the opening will cause a miss at &lt; 1/4 tank of fuel. I intentionally ran under the 1/4 tank recently to see how the engine reacted. It did not miss but the bottom fell out of the fuel pressure. I am assuming that the oversized opening is my problem. How can I tell if this is my problem or possibly a defective fuel pressure gauge. Any opinoins or suggestions?! I can use all the help I can get.<IMG src=smileys/smiley5.gif border="0">
