What is the difference between stock gears, 3.73s, and 4.10s
which is better and what is the fastest you can go with the 3.73s and 4.10s

My '98 GT vert auto has an axle code of "Z" which are 3.08's. I verified this by checking my rpm's at 70 mph (right around 2,000). The maximum stock gear you will find in any Mustang before '05 is 3.27's which were stock from '99 through '04. '05 & '06's have 3.55 stock gears. I am talking regular GT here, not special models or Cobras. In the '80's and '90's models, Ford bounced around alot. You'll have to check your axle (AX) code on your door jam and compare it to a code chart. Or, just chime back into these forums with what code you found and someone will let you know what axle ratio that equals.
