just a thought here, why remove weight from the rear? whenever i have tons of parts in the rear (like over 100lbs) i hook up really good. i dont reccomend making the rear lighter. to me that is counter productive. do a battery relocation to the rear too, that wont remove weight but it takes it away from the front. i wouldnt gut the interior or anything, unless its gonna be a drag-only car. might wanna pickup some lighter wheels too.

Weight is weight. With that extra 100 lbs on the rear, yes you hook up, but it slows you down. If you had some d/r's, you'll still hook.
But technically, yes, you want more weight off the front of the car.

If you're fat, you could put yourself on a diet

Take a drill and drill into the hood like 100 times. SPEED HOLES !!!
Or you could buy a lighter hood... Stock hood is HEAVY !!!

OK this is one thing i've been wondering.. how much does the front sway bar weigh?

ORIGINAL: Miliock

k member with coil overs would save you a good amount of weight also. Front sway bars (track only), new control arms, etc etc

Simple suspension mods that should be done to any Mustang making runs at the track will absolutely outperform added weight in the trunk.

rear seat delete is a good start
\Bah I was gonna do that, and they only save you like 20 pounds or so. Thats not worth losing the back seat, and unless you take some weight off the front you are making your wieght ratio worse anyway.

The sway bar isn't really heavy, but removing the front helps with the transfer of weight to the rear at launch. The K-member post is a good start, Al driveshaft, wheels, light weight hood, etc are all excellent ideas. It boils down to how much you want or are willing to do, and how much comfort you can live without (AC compressor).

It's a heavy car. Add more power and you won't notice it as much!

Seats, k-member w/coil overs, wheels and hood are a good start.
