Default Header swap

I am thinking about swapping the headers. I have heard that the engine needs to be lifted out of the car like two inches to do the swap. Is there any truth to this? Anybody got any pointers?

What kind of headers are you getting? Shorties or longtubes?

Its pretty much the same either way. The bolts are a PITA, so you lift the motor a little so you can torque them down and ensure no leaks. If you're going to go through the trouble, get long tubes, BBK for example, and get them with the JetHot or ceramic coating.

With the long tubes I will have to saw off the stock mid pipe or buy an after market set and then bolt on the long tubes? But with the short tubes I can just swap out with what is on there now? Assuming I can unbolt the things in the first place.

Just buy yourself a new shorty midpipe. Best way to go really. Otherwords, you have to cut whatever midpipe you have on there right now...
