Help!!! What's the problem
I've got a 97 Gt. with sohc 4.6 for some reason undetectable to a computer has gone crazy!!! While driving it will have a power loss sometimes as much as 1000 rpms, some of the symptoms are the same as the symptoms of an AIC value going out. shutting off at idle when stopped or stopping, sometimes it will idle for 30 minutes no problem sometimes it will not idle at all just shuts off. While going down the road it has power lost then regains power causing the drive train to jerk sometimes harder than others. While having a power loss you can give it gas and nothing happens at all. but you can let off the gas and it will balance out then when the power returns you re-apply gas and it runs fine and sometimes it repeats the cycle of power loss and sudden regain up 6 or seven times? I've changed the plugs, wires, AIC value. Any ideas? The computer doesn't detect any problems go figure.

RE: Help!!! What's the problem
I've had a diagnostic computer at the dealers hooked up and the only problem it found was the transmission senor was out of range, other than that very thing checks out fine. I am going to replace that too but i was told that sholdn't be casuing all it to shut off in park. What does the transmission range senor do then, Beats me.

Would a fuel pump issue trigger an engine light. And could the fuel pump have issues after driving with the car really hot

Yup one fuel filter according to Haynes. Got the fuel filter changed out today. And it is still doing it just as bad as ever. Is it possible it could be a bad vacum line going to the throttle body or the throltle body itself sucking air in places it shouldn't?

RE: Help!!! What's the problem
anything is possible. To rule out a vaccum leak take some carb cleaner and spray it on some hoses while running and if u get a surge in engine speed then theres your issue. Dont get any near the exhaust .
Next thing to check is MAF i think. Use your manual and a multimeter to check it out.
