Steering woes
Well, I just acquired myself a lovely black GT beauty. She has the Eibach lowering springs on. However, I think when they were installed the car was never taken to get a proper alignment. I took it into a garage today to look up under the car to check everything out and a serivce tech came over and asked what i was doing. I just said checking it out and seeing if anything looks out of the ordinary. And i told him about the steering wheel having a little play left and right. He grabs my right tire and moves it around and says it's out of tolerance. Left was good. He showed me the places on the tires where they were worn and what causes it. Caster, Camber, etc. He said my rack and pinion is shot. Also, he grabbed my steering arm and said the U joint that is by the firewall is more than likely bad. When i replace the entire rack and pinion steering should I also buy some Caster/Campber plates from Steeda or whoever and install them. Do they help out with having a car lowered? I'm turning to you guys for your expert opinions.

RE: Steering woes
Well, i'm looking at replacing it myself. Just for a price quote I called Autozone to see how much one would be and the said 199. The entire steering arm from Stangsuspension is going to be another $200. I plan on getting a good after market rack and pinion. I just don't know where to look yet.

RE: Steering woes
Steeda has some racks, but they are a bit more than that; $400-$500 I believe. It seems that I may have some of the same issues. I have had this noise from my steering for a while, and no one can seem to find it, but I have had some things replaced in the process. I must say, if the rack is out of the car, definitely get the eurethane bushings; my steering feel is much better. But I think I might ultimately have to replace the rack in mine too.
