How do I cool down my LT headers?

I have a set of BBK Long Tube headers on my 99 GT and they are chrome headers ( they were a hell of a lot cheaper then the ceramic so it was my only choice financially at the time.) I have no complaints or anything yet but I am soon adding nitrous to my stang and I am kind of worried about the headers getting way hot and robbing HP. Does anyone have any suggestions or do you think they should be o.k. Can I get them ceramic coated? I also have read about a type of insulation tape that can keep them quite a bit cooler.

yeah i'd go with the tape. I have not found any prices on getting them coated, but the tape apparently works great. Only thing is it voids the warranty on the headers... why?? do not ask me, i wanna know too!

yes i believe jegs sells it, it will cut down on some heat... but it wont be too much, and the process of uninstalling ceramic coating and then re installing your headers will end up being more expensive than buying ceramics in the first place

Good point. Its really not worth the effort of not getting the Cer coated ones.

As long as your A/F ratio is correct your headers will not get that much hotter with the nitrous, besides it is only used for a few seconds and then it's done. Header wrap voids the warrenty because it makes the headers rust out, it's a pain to put on and after it gets hot and you touch it or rub it will fall apart. I have had it one car and do not reccomend it, except on certain parts of a turbo system.
