Ok, it started very quickly.. Yesterday I was driving down the road about 75-80 and i heard a loud grinding noise for about 20 seconds.. by the time I pulled over it had stopped. I checked everything out and physically i couldn't see anything. I drove home and the ride seemed a little rougher. I parked. Towards the end of the night I drove it around town for a little while and heard a slight grinding every couple minutes. Almost sounded like it would have been brakes.. This morning I drove it and there was a whinning/squeaking.. Not sure how to explain it. So I jacked the back up thinking it was a wheel bearing.. I put the jack stands on the axle and rotated the wheels.. The noise is coming RIGHT at where the drive shaft comes out of the tranny? What could the problem be? Thanks!


Edit.. been calling everyone I can think of.. Someone said that it very well could be that ujoint.. That noise is pretty awful though..Anyother suggestions before I start guess & checking.. ?

I agree with the U-Joint theory, That's about the only thing there that could really be making that kind of noise, and when they do go bad, they are quite capable of causing vibrations and ugly sounds.

Ok pulled my drive shaft off.. It is NOT a ujoint.. I pulled the shaft almost all the way out.. and then twisted it.. at the very end of the tranny pretty much the yoke there is a whinning sound.. what the hell could that be?
