Default Is pinging loud?

I got a Xcal 2 flash tuner. My tuner said that i can advance the timing (spark) +2 degrees in the 2-4K and 4-8K range until it starts pinging then back it off. I know pinging is supposed to sound like a marble rattling in a can, or something simillar rattling. But is it pretty loud that i will definately hear it? I dont want to miss something and be hurting my engine. I also have borla catback and catted x pipe, so is the pinging going to be loud enough to hear over that?

It's LOUD you will hear it over your exhaust. You probably won't hear it just revving the motor, the motor needs to be under load.
